Join Our 2026 Summer Camp Team as a Junior Counselor!

We’re excited to announce that we are accepting Junior Counselors (ages 13–15) to join our team June through August 2026!

This is the perfect opportunity for teens who want a safe, supportive place to spend their summer while learning the ropes of what it’s like to work at a real camp. Junior Counselors get hands-on experience, grow their leadership skills, and enjoy being part of a fun and energetic team—all while still feeling like campers themselves!

Our Junior Counselor Program (ages 13–15) offers teens a safe and supervised place to spend the summer while learning the ropes of working in a real camp environment. Junior Counselors enjoy hands-on experience, positive mentorship, and age-appropriate responsibilities—all while still getting to participate in camp fun. Teens earn a small stipend for their tasks and receive a formal reference letter at the end of the season, helping them begin building that all-important future résumé. It’s the perfect blend of learning, leadership, and summer adventure!

Here’s the scoop:

  • When: Early Bird Shift 7:45 am to 4:00 pm or Sleepy Sloth Shift 9:15 pm to 5:30 pm
  • Where: Little Cottonwood Canyon Park ‘n Ride
  • Perks: Transport, meals, training AND $120 per week
  • Swag: Baseball Cap. water bottle, sun shirt to rock on Mondays, your very own first aid kit, and a professional letter of recommendation at the end of your adventure.

In March, we’ll schedule a meeting with you AND your parents to go over the job, expectations, and answer all your questions, and set up final committed weeks based on your selection and availability. Get ready to make new friends, explore the great outdoors, and be part of something magical!

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Junior Counselors, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the conducting, and supervising a variety of recreational activities for campers ages 6-12 in a day
  • Camp setting, as well as the assisting in the care and supervision of the campers assigned to their group.
  • Our camp operates from June 1- August 21, 2026.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Junior Counselors assist in supervising a group of campers, attending to their needs, and reporting any behavioral concerns to their group counselor. They help organize, collect, and carry supplies to the day camp site, support the setup and supervision of crafts, games, sports, and other activities, and participate in cleanup to ensure all areas and equipment remain safe and well-maintained, helping enforce established camp rules to keep everyone safe. They are expected to follow daily schedules and adhere to assigned responsibilities throughout the camp day.

EXPECTATIONS

Junior Counselors are expected to act in a positive and professional manner with campers, parents, and peers while committing to creating a safe, child-focused community. They take initiative to analyze and solve problems—ideally before they arise—and remain flexible and ready to adapt to changing needs throughout the day. Junior Counselors stay open to feedback and demonstrate a genuine desire to learn, grow, and strengthen their skills as part of the camp team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of the Junior Counselor role include occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of items up to 20 pounds, along with the ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly both nearby and at a distance. The position requires the use of hands and fine motor skills, as well as frequent movement throughout the day, including standing, sitting, kneeling, walking, and participating in hikes up to twice daily.
